Hytolive® is a 100% natural extract

A natural ingredient should be a product obtained without the use of chemicals, without adding any synthetic product. It should be physically extracted without altering its initial composition and free of GMO.
Hytolive® meets all these requirements and when the markeplace agrees to a harmonized definition, Hytolive® will be for sure included.

There is no oficial definiton of what “natural” means in the field of extracts.

The lack of regulation of the term “natural” creates an unfair advantage in the marketplace for companies with no actual standards for food products. Consumers are misinformed and misled to believe that “natural” means healthier food products, when currently companies can label any product “natural.”

For a product to be labeled as “natural,” it must contain no artificial ingredients or added color, and must be only “minimally processed”, according to the USDA.

According to English Oxford dictionary, “natural” means: Existing in or derived from nature; not made or caused by humankind. Having had a minimum of processing or preservative treatment.

The Spanish Real Academy states: “that it is as it is in nature, or that it has no mixture or elaboration”.

“Minimally processed”, according to the USDA is defined as a food product that was processed in a way that does not fundamentally alter the product.

The FDA has considered the term “natural” to mean that nothing artificial or synthetic (including all color additives regardless of source) has been included in, or has been added to, a food that would not normally be expected to be in that Food”.

FDA also indicates that natural ingredients are derived from natural sources (e.g., soybeans and corn provide lecithin to maintain product consistency; beets provide beet powder used as food coloring). Other ingredients are not found in nature and therefore must be synthetically produced as artificial ingredients. Also, some ingredients found in nature can be manufactured artificially and produced more economically, with greater purity and more consistent quality, than their natural counterparts. For example, vitamin C or ascorbic acid may be derived from an orange or produced in a laboratory. Food ingredients are subject to the same strict safety standards regardless of whether they are naturally or artificially derived.
